In Punjab, there’s still a huge piece of land about 3.79 million acres that can be used for farming, but it’s not level or ready yet. This type of land is called culturable wasteland.
To help farmers bring this land into use, the Agriculture Department of Punjab is offering bulldozer services at subsidized rates. This is not just a big plan on papers. Bulldozers are already working in the field across many districts.
What This Scheme Offers
The department has 297 bulldozers ready to work. Farmers in all parts of Punjab can hire them at low rates for:
- Leveling unprepared or unused land
- Fixing uneven areas in already cultivated land
- Reclaiming eroded or damaged patches
Bulldozers are also available for other development works like building small dams, making fish ponds, clearing canals, or doing emergency work in flood-hit areas. But the main focus is on helping farmers increase usable land.
How to Get the Bulldozer Service
It’s a simple, local process. You don’t need any agent or reference. Just go to your district agriculture office or tehsil unit where bulldozers are stationed.
There’s a short form you have to fill. You can download it from the official Punjab Field Wing website:
Or you can get this Application form directly from the office. Here’s how it works:
- Fill the form with your name, land details, and type of work needed
- Submit it to the Unit Supervisor or Assistant Agricultural Engineer
- They will visit the site and calculate how many hours of bulldozer work you need
- You’ll get a challan form with the total fee
- Pay that fee in the bank or treasury
- Once payment is done, your name goes in the schedule and the bulldozer will come to your land on its turn
No complex process, no long delays if your papers are complete.
Bulldozer Service Charges
These are hourly rates. The fee depends on how much land you own and who provides the diesel.
For Farming Use
- Farmers with land under 12.5 acres: Rs. 560 per hour (diesel by department)
- Farmers with 12.5 to 25 acres: Rs. 100 per hour (diesel by user)
- Farmers with more than 25 acres: Rs. 650 per hour (diesel by user)
- Government departments: Rs. 2120 per hour (diesel by department) or Rs. 650 per hour (diesel by user)
For Non-Farming Work
- Contractors, NGOs, or other agencies: Rs. 2750 per hour diesel by department of goverment or Rs. 1280 per hour (diesel by user)
Rates are the same across Punjab and are based on hours, not acres.
Why This Matters for Farmers
Getting land leveled privately can cost a lot. Through this scheme, the government is giving direct support by offering bulldozers at low rates.
Even if you have small land, you can apply. Farmers with under 12.5 acres are given special priority with diesel included. This is your chance to turn empty or uneven land into proper farmland that gives crops and income.
